A political party is a group of people who come together to contest elections and hold power in the government. They agree on some policies and programmes for the society with a view to promote the collective good or to further their supporters' interests.
While there is some international commonality in the way political parties are recognized, and in how they operate, there are often many differences, and some are significant. Many political parties have an ideological core, but some do not, and many represent very different ideologies than they did when first founded. In democracies, political parties are elected by the electorate to run a government. Many countries have numerous powerful political parties, such as Germany and India and some nations have one-party systems, such as China. The United States is a two-party system, with its two most powerful parties being the Democratic Party and the Republican Party.
Political Parties: A Sociological Study of the Oligarchical Tendencies of Modern Democracy (German:Zur Soziologie des Parteiwesens in der modernen Demokratie; Untersuchungen über die oligarchischen Tendenzen des Gruppenlebens) is a book by sociologist Robert Michels, published in 1911 and first introducing the concept of iron law of oligarchy. It is considered one of the classics of social sciences, in particular sociology and political science. It was translated to Italian as Sociologia del partito politico nella democrazia moderna: studi sulle tendenze oligarchiche degli aggregati politici by Alfredo Polledro in 1912, and then translated from the Italian to English by Eden Paul and Cedar Paul for Hearst's International Library Co. in 1915.
This work analyzes the power structures of organizations such as political parties and trade unions. Michels's main argument is that all organizations, even those in theory most egalitarian and most committed to democracy - like socialist political parties - are in fact oligarchical, and dominated by a small group of leadership. The book also provides a first systematic analysis of how a radical political party loses its radical goals under the dynamics of electoral participation. The origins of moderation theory can be found in this analysis.
"Netherlands" literally means "lower countries", influenced by its low land and flat geography, with only about 50% of its land exceeding one metre above sea level. Most of the areas below sea level are man-made. Since the late 16th century, large areas (polders) have been reclaimed from the sea and lakes, amounting to nearly 17% of the country's current land mass.
The 1979 European election was the first direct election to the European Parliament to be held and hence the first time the Netherlands had voted. Four parties were able to win seats: the conservative liberal VVD, the progressive liberal D66, the Christian-democratic CDA and the social-democratic Labour Party. Five other nationally represented parties compete but are unable to win seats. 58.1% of the Dutch population turned out on election day.
European groups
MEPs period 1979-1984
Below is a complete list of members of the European Parliament for the period 1979-1984 as a result of this election.
1984-1989
Dutch political parties
The 1984 European election was the second European election to be held. In these elections both an alliance of leftwing CPN, PSP and PPR parties (Green Progressive Accord) and the orthodox Protestant SGP, GPV, RPF parties have formed a successful common lists, which win two respectively one seat. the progressive liberal D'66 loses its two seats and disappears from the parliament. 50.9% of the Dutch population turned out on election day.
The four parts of the Kingdom–Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten and the Netherlands–are constituent countries (landen in Dutch) and participate on a basis of equality as partners in the Kingdom. In practice, however, most of the Kingdom affairs are administered by the Netherlands – which comprises roughly 98% of the Kingdom's land area and population – on behalf of the entire Kingdom. Consequently, the countries of Aruba, Curaçao, and Sint Maarten are dependent on the Netherlands for matters like foreign policy and defence, although they are autonomous to a certain degree with their own parliaments.
The vast majority in land area of the constituent country of the Netherlands (as well as the Kingdom) is located in Europe, with the exception of the Caribbean Netherlands: its three special municipalities (Bonaire, Saba, and Sint Eustatius) that are located in the Caribbean. The constituent countries of Aruba, Curaçao, and Sint Maarten are located in the Caribbean as well.

Editor's Note: My edits were all made to keep the video on one, central topic by editing together relevant commentary from many parts of Hasan's streams to create a storyline that is still followable by the viewer. I also edited in commentary of my own in places, in addition to relevant external information that improves the viewing experience. A lot of edits were made for comedy purposes, or to enhance the comedic timing of certain beats, but never to misrepresent Hasan's point of view.
If you like my edits, leave a Comment, Like, and Subscribe. It helps a lot, thank you :)

Editor of DutchNews.nl, Robin Pascoe discusses what the country's shift to the far-right means as far-right populist Geert Wilders and his Freedom Party (PVV) secure election success.
The PVV won 37 of 150 seats in a shock victory which 'exceeded all expectations' as they more than doubled its share since. theprevious elections in 2021.
Mr Wilders is known for an aggressive anti-Islamic and anti-immigration rhetoric.
Under the Dutch system, no one party is able to win enough of the 150 seats to govern on its own, meaning Mr Wilders will need to form a coalition.
None of the parties he could form a government with shares his anti-European Union ideas, with all three of the other top parties previously ruling out serving in a PVV-led coalition.
Mr Wilders has declared he aims to be Prime Minister, as he expressed his support for a referendum on whether the Netherlands should leave the European Union.
However, he has stated that his first priority is 'significant restriction on asylum and immigration'.

The Dutch prime minister, Mark Rutte, disagreed with the US president, Donald Trump, in a White House photo-op on Monday.

The president referred to upcoming discussions between the US and the EU around trade deals and tried to joke that if the discussions failed it could be positive. Rutte quickly injected with a strong "No" and a smile.
Trump replied with a comment about the car industry, but Rutte followed up quickly with: "It's not positive. We have to work something out."
