Netherlands coalition made of same parties announced after 9 months
A coalition has been announced in the Netherlands after nine months - the longest negotiations in the country's history.
But the new government has been formed with the same parties - despite the previous administration being blamed for a childcare benefit scandal.
Prime Minister Mark Rutte of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy, will be returning for a fourth term, along with the D66, the Christian Democratic Appeal and the Christian Union

12. SOUNDBITE: (English, audio as incoming) Netherlands Prime Minister Peter Balkenende, leader of CDA (Christian Democrat Appeal):
"At this moment, you can see that we have really made progress, during these last years. We had a whole reform policy, the economic results, and you can see the people are also saying that the policy has been the right one. And I really hope that we get enough support to go on with this type of policy. If you talk about the most supported issues, that is of course, how is the economy (going to go) over the next years, what is our agenda for the future ? You have the greying of the population so you have to change your policies. Getting jobs for people is always very important. And the issue of integration and security of people. And of course the issue of the public health system."

STORYLINE:
The Dutch Prime Minister, Jan Peter Balkenende hit the campaign trail on Saturday, before national elections that will decide whether the Netherlands continues its tough treatment of immigrants or turns to a Labour-led coalition pledging a softer line.
The intertwined issues of immigration and integration of mainly Muslim migrants living in the country had barely registered in weeks of campaigning until Friday. Then hardline Immigration Minister Rita Verdonk, whose party is expected to lose ground in Wednesday's election, announced the governing coalition was planning to ban the head-to-toe burqa and other face-covering clothing in public.
Balkenende denied Saturday that the ban was targeting Muslims. He insisted the new legislation would outlaw all face-covering clothes, such as ski masks and full-face helmets and was a "safety issue".
He told supporters at a rally in Tilburg:
"When people come to the Netherlands, they have to learn the language and they have to go through an integration course. That is the only way for them to completely understand and acknowledge Dutch society."
According to polls, Balkenende's Christian Democrat Appeal party is on target to become the largest party in the 150-seat lower house of Parliament with about 42 seats, ahead of the PvdA (Dutch Labour Party) of Wouter Bos and Liberal Party of Immigration Minister Rita Verdonk, which is part of Balkenende's ruling coalition.
Vying for third place with the Liberals is the Socialist Party.
Balkenende, in power since 2002 and campaigning on his solid economic credentials, remains the most popular choice as next prime minister, ahead of Bos, but a coalition seems almost inevitable.
