The production area of the D.O. Sierras de Málaga coincides with that of the D.O. Malaga. It is made up of 67 municipalities located in four production areas: Axarquía, Montes de Málaga, Norte, Manilva and one sub-zone: Serranía de Ronda.

Sierras de Málaga wines can be made with the White varieties: Pero Ximen (Pedro Ximenez), Moscatel de Alejandría, Moscatel Morisco (Muscat of small grain), Chardonnay, Macabeo, Colombard, Sauvignon Blanc: Lairen and Doradilla, Gewürztraminer, Riesling, Verdejo and Viognier; and the red grapes: Romé, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shyrah, Tempranillo, Garnacha, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Petit Verdot, Graciano, Malbec, Monastrell and Tintilla (tintilla de Rota).

Sierras de Málaga protects Still wines, with an alcohol content of between 10 and 15´5% alc. and a sugar content of less than 12 gr / l. They are classified into white, red and rosé.
Blancos: con graduación entre 10 y 15,5% Vol. y un contenido en azúcares ≤ 12 gr/l
Rosados: con graduación entre 11 y 15,5% Vol. y un contenido en azúcares ≤ 12 gr/l
Tintos : con graduación entre 12 y 15,5% Vol. y un contenido en azúcares ≤12 gr/l
Tintos Dulces de uvas sobremaduradas: con graduación entre 12 y 15,5% Vol. y un contenido en azúcares ≥ 45 gr/l

“Crianza”: Minimum aging of 2 years, 6 months of them in oak barrels.
“Reserva”: Minimum aging of 3 years, 12 months of them in oak barrels.
“Gran Reserva”: Aged for at least 5 years, 24 months in oak barrels and 36 months in bottle.
“Gran Reserva” for White and Rosé Wines: minimum aging of 5 years, at least 6 months in oak barrels.
