@nerdyasians I'm asian, not asian-american, so my opinion may be less relevant. But as a Chinese Singaporean, I don't see anything wrong with it. full black hair is a sign of rules and conformity to a lot of us. I love my own dark hair of course, but

@nerdyasians in schools right before university, dark, undyed hair is mandatory. dyed hair is generally seen as 'rebellious' and more 'delinquent'-like and many young people want to dye their hair once they're free of academic rules, and do so.

この「アジア系メッシュ問題」について、このイメージの元祖は誰だろうと何年か前にツイートしたら、50年代にアジア人として初のパリコレ起用され、60～70年代に世界的ブームを起こした日本人の山口小夜子さんだろうとフォロワーの方に教えて頂いた。当時の鮮烈な印象は今も根強いのだろうな。 RT pic.twitter.com/OtXGlmtjmU

アジア人メッシュ問題は西洋人のメインキャラクターが黒髪だったりするとサブキャラの東洋人と髪色的に被っちゃうから、それを避けつつキャラクター性持たせるためにいつの間にかメッシュ入れる用になったって台所事情な気もしないでもない
