Ezekiel is a supporting antagonist in the Amazon series The Boys. He was a Christian Supe and a former organizer of Capes for Christ.
The Boys Series[]
Season One[]
Ezekiel is first seen engaging in a foursome with several male partners in a Supe nightclub. He later headlines a Capes for Christ convention as the guest speaker, where he charges attendees thousands of dollars for a meet-and-greet. After a group baptism, Hughie attempts to blackmail him with compromising pictures, but his plans are foiled after his phone was short circuited by the baptism. Forced to improvise, Hughie bluffs, claiming to have a video of him and Ezekiel having sex, and demands information on Samaritan's Embrace' Compound V shipments. Ezekiel relents and gives up the information, allowing Butcher to track the latest Compound V shipment to a hospital.
Seven on 7 with Cameron Coleman[]
During the October 2021 segment, Cameron Coleman says Ezekiel was reported and that the FBSA had begun to charge him with multiple accounts of abuse and misconduct from anonymous sources.
Ezekiel's Prayer's & Thoughts[]
On September 1, 2022, Vought International announced that it was partnering up with Ezekiel for a new app called Ezekiel's Prayers & Thoughts.[1]
The Boys: Season 4[]
Ezekiel appears at Firecracker's live show about Starlight, in which he leads the show's guests in a prayer. While on break, he discovers Frenchie snooping around inside Firecracker's trailer and attacks him. Frenchie is wounded, but the scuffle draws the attention of Butcher, who freezes off one of Ezekiel's arms with a liquid nitrogen fire extinguisher. Despite his wound, Ezekiel continues fighting and attempts to strangle Butcher with his remaining arm. Before he can finish, however, he is violently torn apart by the tumour-induced alternate personality of Joe Kessler, who controlled a latent power inside Butcher.
Personality[]
Ezekiel's public image is that of a preacher of fundamentalist Christianity, who promotes traditionalist values and condemns homosexuality. In reality, Ezekiel is a charlatan hypocrite and enjoys threesomes with men while possibly caring little for the religion. He also doesn't take kindly to manipulation as he strangled Hughie when he tried to blackmail him. He then joins Firecracker to antagonise Starlight.
Powers[]
- Elasticity: Ezekiel is capable of stretching, twisting, and contorting his limbs and body to extraordinary lengths and proportions.
- Density Changing: Ezekiel can augment his body's shape including compressing it down into a compact form, with his mass remaining the same, and can increase or decrease accordingly.
- Superhuman Strength: Ezekiel possesses superhuman strength, he can easily throw other people across rooms, as he did with Frenchie and Butcher.
- Superhuman Hearing: Ezekiel, being a Supe, has better hearing beyond that of ordinary humans, capable of hearing certain frequencies.[2]
Weakness[]
- Freezing Temperatures: If Ezekiel is exposed to extreme cold such as liquid nitrogen, he will be unable to use his powers. Much like how rubber breaks when it's frozen, the same principle will happen to him if he tries to stretch in freezing temperatures. This is shown in Wisdom of the Ages when Butcher uses a fire extinguisher to freeze, then break off Ezekiel's arm as it was extending towards him.
Trivia[]
- Ezekiel is a parody of DC's' Plastic Man.
- Ezekiel is a combination of comic book characters Oh-Father (a religious superhero with ties to Capes for Christ) and Reacher Dick (a supe with stretchy powers and a sketchy double life).
- The Boys blackmailing him with a clip of him being homosexual is a reference to when they blackmailed Jack from Jupiter with a clip of him having sex with a couple of transvestites. He is homosexual but his public image is "pray the gay away", but in reality, he is attracted to men and engaged in threesomes.
- Ezekiel might also be a parody of Kenneth Copeland, an infamous mega-church pastor who notoriously known for being a fraud with allegations of scamming and embezzling his followers's donation money for himself.
- Strangely enough, when Homelander exposes Hughie as being one of the people who killed Translucent, he lists Ezekiel as another example. Ezekiel was never shown dying and was later confirmed to be alive in 2021. It is possible Homelander was lying about his death to further criminalize Starlight or was simply listing Ezekiel as another victim of the Boys, albeit one of blackmail rather than murder.
- The way Butcher freezes his hand could be a reference to Mr. Fantastic being frozen by Doctor Doom on Fantastic Four 2005. It also could be a reference to how Mr. Fantastic started to fight with Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness, where Reed extends his hand to Wanda and she destroys it by deforming it.
