"EMP Dude Patient" is a minor character in Season 2 of the Amazon series The Boys. He was one of the test patients at Sage Grove Center who managed to flee outside the facility, but ended up gunned down by Billy Butcher.

Background[]

At some point, due to having a mental illness or being mentally unstable, this Supe would be admitted to Sage Grove Center for treatment. However, he would be used as a test subject for Vought International in order to create a stabilized version of Compound V for adults, which was successful, transforming him into a Supe and granting him superhuman powers and abilities.

Season Two[]

Following Cindy's release from her cell at Sage Grove Center, she started a insurrection by releasing all the patients. "EMP Dude" was among those who successfully got outside of the facility.

During his escape, he found Billy Butcher, Starlight, and Hughie Campbell staking-out the facility. He begged them not to hurt him, as Butcher tried to reassure the patient they wouldn't hurt him. However, the patient was suddenly strained and released a devastating EMP shockwave that knocked back Butcher and Starlight, and sent the van, with Hughie inside, flipping. The man hesitantly looked on in shock at what he had done, as he was suddenly gunned-down by Butcher, who shot him three times in the chest.

Powers and Abilities[]

  • Electromagnetic Pulse Emission: This Supe can emit an electromagnetic pulse shockwave strong enough to send a van rolling. The shockwave also depleted Starlight's held energy for electricity conversion.
  • Superhuman Hearing: This Supe possesses superhuman hearing, allowing him to hear better than humans. Like all Supes, he can hear higher frequencies that humans cannot.[1]

Weaknesses[]

Biological[]

  • Brute Force/Limited Durability: While the extent of his durability is unknown, this Supe was rather weak for Supe standards, as he can be harmed and killed through normal means similar to a powerless human, shown by pistol bullets going through his skin when killed by Butcher.
  • High Frequencies: Due to being a Supe, he is susceptible to high frequencies. When a high frequency is playing, it can induce immense pain and temporarily neutralize him.
