The Explosive Bunny is an item that serves as ammunition for the Bunny Cannon. Crafting it requires a Bunny, which must be caught with any Bug Net.
It can be released as a critter, and will wander around like other critters. On death, it will explode, dealing damage but not destroying tiles. It will always be placed at the player's feet when released, instead of at the cursor like most other critters.

Notes[]
- Unlike other critters, the Guide To Critter Companionship does not render it immune to damage inflicted by the player.
- In the secret seed For the worthy
, it will spawn naturally. Also, any Bunny (but not the Gold or Gem variants) released by players will become an Explosive Bunny instead.- Explosive Bunnies spawned this way via the Bunny Statue don't inflict damage when killed.
- Its explosion damages NPCs.
Tips[]
Due to their unusually high damage, Explosive Bunnies can easily end several early boss fights with a single blow, before there is even a chance for the boss to attack. Since the bunnies have no timer and explode on contact with the enemy, and because so many of them can be placed at once, all that is needed is to place a large amount of them into a small enclosed square, then spawn the boss and wait for it to pass over them. Although it may not be possible to place enough to defeat later bosses, they can still be used to gain a substantial headstart.- This is especially useful in Journey Mode, e.g. when speedrunning.
Trivia[]
- When fired from the Bunny Cannon, the Explosive Bunny has the highest base damage of any weapon on the PC version, Console version, Old-gen console version, Mobile version, Old Chinese version, tModLoader version, and tModLoader 1.3-Legacy version. It is beaten only by the Windows Phone and -exclusive Holy Hand Grenade, which deals 600 damage.
The Bestiary entry for the Explosive Bunny: "Not the typical garden-variety bunny. This one has been tampered with, and has an explosive temper as a result."
