Before the contestants even got on the boat, Denis Brogniart informed them that they would have to immediately decide upon two among them to not join the rest on the boat. Believing that this was an elimination, Véronique Bègue and Boris Deltell sacrificed themselves for the other contestants. The other sixteen contestants said their goodbyes and got on the boat, which was headed to an island where they would be divided into two tribes the next day. When swimming to this island from the boat, Alain Merdel almost drowned, but Claude Dartois saved him and helped him get to the island. As the contestants trekked towards the north side of the island, Virginie Mercadal Pioli cut her upper eyelid by bumping into a branch. That night, Vivien Escouflaire and Alain found the island's watering hole and the sixteen contestants settled in for the night. The next day, they finished their trek and Denis Brogniart revealed that the two tribes would be divided by gender. Thus, Philippe was assigned to the Do tribe and they immediately competed against the Vang tribe in their first Reward Challenge, which they lost. Upon arriving at their camp, they encountered Véronique, who had arrived there the day before by helicopter and who would be their sole female tribemate instead of being eliminated. Within the same hour, the Do tribe succeeded, in huge part thanks to Philippe, in making fire. Meanwhile, Vivien seemed helpless throughout the day as he didn't contribute much around camp, he felt unwell due to fatigue and the heat, and he even got lost in the darkness when fetching water before the tribe went to sleep. The next day, the Do tribe won the first Immunity Challenge, earning them safety from Tribal Council.
The Do tribe won the second Reward Challenge and, in turn, selected Abdellah Akriche, Véronique, and Kunlé M'Babacéré Pakorona to purchase fruits for them from a Vietnamese market as part of the reward. Meanwhile, the remaining members of the Do tribe, with the exception of Vivien, resumed work on the shelter that they had started constructing the day before upon returning to camp. The next day, the Do tribe lost the second Immunity Challenge. Upon their victory, the Vang tribe was offered the right to exchange Boris for Véronique, however, they turned down this offer. Though Vivien knew that Tribal Council was looming and that he may be in danger, he remained withdrawn from doing camp chores. In spite of this, he woke up early the next morning and began to contribute more. At Tribal Council, Denis Brogniard commented that he had never seen a tribe as tight as the Do tribe before on Koh-Lanta. However, someone had to be eliminated and Vivien was voted out unanimously for his inactivity around camp and his weakness. The beginning of the next cycle worked out positively for the Do tribe as they won the third Reward Challenge, Blind Leading the Blind, against the Vang tribe and, in turn, won fishing equipment. Additionally, they were able to send Philippe and Jean-Pierre Pigato to go fishing for squid with some local fishermen. The next day, Claude, Philippe, and Kunlé formed an alliance and agreed to incorporate Alain and Jean-Pierre into the fold, with the common factor for the five being that they were the most active among their tribemates around camp, especially concerning the tribe's shelter.
When the two tribes arrived for the third Immunity Challenge, Denis Brogniart surprised them with a sudden tribe switch. With two tribes being formed with an equal number of men and women in each, Philippe was selected by Jean-Pierre to be one of the four men of his tribe. Jennifer Lieutaud's tribe won the third Immunity Challenge and they were given the right to select which camp to return to. Without hesitation, they chose to return to the Do camp, making them the second Do tribe. Philippe, now one of the members of the second Vang tribe, was upset by this turn of events because he and his other three male tribemates were essentially forced to start fresh on a comparatively empty camp while relinquishing the results of their hard work to a mostly laidback second Do tribe. At the Vang camp, Virginie showed the tribe's new members around the camp and continued to work hyperactively. The newcomers were impressed with Virginie's work ethic, which seemed to juxtapose that of the majority of the original Vang tribe based on the state of the camp. The next morning, Alain was temporarily evacuated from the game due to a dizzy spell and was exempt from attending Tribal Council later that night. Meanwhile, the other men and Véronique planned to vote based on tribal lines, putting Aurélie Gasser, Virginie, and Marine Plissonneau on the chopping block since they were in the minority. Hoping that one or more of the men may flip to their side, the minority alliance voted against Véronique at Tribal Council for her challenge weakness. However, the majority alliance stayed strong and voted out Virginie who, in spite of her strong work ethic, they found difficult to talk to due to her hyperactivity. When Alain was permanently evacuated and eliminated from the game on Day 10 after the medics deemed that he needed more time to recover, Virginie returned to the game in his place. The Vang tribe won the fourth Reward Challenge, Memory, in part thanks to Aurélie's familiarity with similar games due to her experience as a leisure center animator. The next day, the Vang tribe constructed their raft for the fourth Immunity Challenge and, though it was superior to that of the Do tribe, they lost said challenge the day after because their rivals made a strategic risk during the race that paid off. At Tribal Council, Virginie was voted out by the majority alliance again for the same reasons as before.
The fifth Reward Challenge began on Day 13 and consisted of the tribes going on a trek to retrieve as many of their own plaques as possible, which would be returned to the starting line on Day 14. Before the challenge began, the two tribes competed in a mini-challenge to determine which of them would be assigned to the easier path. The Vang tribe won this mini-challenge and, in turn, was assigned to the dragon path, which was the less taxing of the two paths. On their way to their checkpoint where they would be staying for the night, the Vang tribe worked in a cohesive manner and managed to give themselves a slight edge over their rivals by quickly retrieving plaques. After a nice night at their checkpoint, the Vang tribe headed back to the starting line and, after the Vang tribe had mistakenly retrieved a plaque designated for the Do tribe, both teams arrived with 18 plaques that counted. In order to break the tie, the two tribes competed in another mini-challenge, which the Vang tribe won. The next day, which was the day of the fifth Immunity Challenge and the corresponding Tribal Council, Jean-Pierre decided that he would be voting based on merit going forward instead of on tribal lines as his alliance had done for the previous two Tribal Councils. To the dismay of Aurélie and Marine, the Vang tribe lost the fifth Immunity Challenge and Denis Brogniart revealed to them that Tribal Council would be taking place right there and then. There, Jean-Pierre voted against Aurélie for not being as strong in challenges as Marine and for not being as active around camp as Véronique and the men, but the rest of his alliance surprised him by voting out Marine. That evening, Jean-Pierre confronted the men in his alliance on their decision to vote out Marine, who he felt was the strongest of the tribe's women in challenges, and stated that he no longer wanted to be the tribe's leader. Over the next few days, Jean-Pierre's attitude wore on his tribemates, with even Philippe and Kunlé feeling that he may be a problem going forward. At the sixth Reward Challenge, Marine reentered the game and joined the Do tribe because Jennifer had quit the day prior. Feeling excited about Marine joining them because they felt that she was more beneficial to have than Jennifer, the Do tribe won the sixth Reward Challenge. As the Do tribe returned to camp, Jean-Pierre openly stated in front of his tribemates and Denis Brogniart that the Vang tribe had made a mistake in voting out Marine the day before. He added that he had voted against Aurélie because she was weaker than Marine in challenges and was expecting that his allies would do the same and further added that he should have voted against Véronique as she was the weakest link of the tribe. The next day, the two tribes competed in the sixth Immunity Challenge, Buggin' Out, which was won by the Do tribe mostly due to Boris making a successful bluff regarding his chewing time. At the corresponding Tribal Council, the Vang tribe agreed that Kunlé should be their new leader and Jean-Pierre was blindsided by his former allies in a 3-1-1 vote. Going into the next cycle, Kunlé's leadership was appreciated more so than Jean-Pierre's and the four worked and coexisted in a united fashion. On the down side, the Vang tribe lost the seventh Reward Challenge and Véronique hurt her leg. By the end of the cycle though, the Vang tribe won the seventh Immunity Challenge, which would be their only Immunity Challenge victory since the tribe switch, and they avoided Tribal Council.
The eighth Reward Challenge was a Hero Challenge in which the winner would win a prime rib and fries reward for their tribe. Kunlé represented the Vang tribe and lost the challenge against Claude who represented the Do tribe. After the challenge, Denis Brogniart announced that Claude and Kunlé would be the Ambassadors of their respective tribes and that the merge would be taking place the next day. At the Vang camp, the men and the women initially chatted separately from each other, which resulted in Kunlé originally planning to suggest Véronique's name at the Ambassadors' Meeting in a worst case scenario due to her recent injury and her weakness in challenges. However, after having had more of a chance to talk to the women, Kunlé changed his mind the next morning, deciding that he would insist on the Ambassadors' target being a member of the second Do tribe. At the Ambassadors' Meeting, Claude suggested Aurélie's name to Kunlé, but also mentioned that Boris had told him that he wouldn't mind being the Ambassadors' target because he felt fulfilled regarding his time spent in the game. In response to this, Kunlé informed Claude that he wanted for all of his tribemates to make it to the merge, considering that they were only four against Claude's tribe of seven, and that it would simply be better to eliminate someone who is ready to go. Claude ultimately agreed to this and the pair settled upon Boris, eliminating him from the game. After Claude and Kunlé returned to camp and broke the news, the merged tribe bid Boris a good farewell. In spite of this, Denis Brogniart and some of the contestants were somewhat disappointed in Boris as they felt that he had thrown in the towel. Later in the day, a medic arrived to examine the burned finger of Valentin D'Hoore, who had burned his finger by accidentally touching a hot plate of fries resting over a grill during the previous reward, and determined that Valentin needed to be temporarily evacuated from the game in order for his injury to be examined by a specialist. In Valentin's absence, Claude and Kunlé, having made a plan for a large merge alliance earlier at the Ambassadors' Meeting, recruited Véronique, Philippe, Wafa El Mejjad, and Laurence Pizzocchia into their fold and informed them that they would be blindsiding Abdellah first at the next Tribal Council due to his challenge prowess. The next day, Claude won the first individual Immunity Challenge and he and his alliance determined that it would be better to work with Abdellah for the time being instead of targeting him. Therefore, at Tribal Council, Claude's alliance and Abdellah voted out Aurélie, who was the only remaining contestant to have never been on the Do tribe at any point, in a near-unanimous vote.
When Valentin was permanently evacuated and eliminated from the game on Day 24 after it was determined that Valentin's injury was too severe for him to return to the game at that time, Aurélie returned to the game in his place at the first individual Reward Challenge. Claude won said challenge and he was rewarded with a day tour of a Vietnamese city. While Claude was away, Aurélie approached Abdellah and Marine with a proposition to turn the tables on Claude. In turn, Abdellah approached Véronique and Laurence the next morning and tried to convince them to form a counter-alliance with himself, Aurélie, and Marine by arguing that Claude views them simply as sheep who would do his bidding for now and be easily slaughtered later. Though Véronique and Laurence were initially on board with this due to Claude's undiplomatic approach, especially concerning the women of his alliance, the pair eventually decided that sticking with Claude's alliance would be better for their games. This was made evident when Laurence opted to hinder Aurélie in the second individual Immunity Challenge when the former was eliminated from said challenge. After Claude won the second individual Immunity Challenge, Denis Brogniart revealed to the merged tribe that Tribal Council would be taking place right there and then. With their initial target having won immunity, Abdellah and Marine voted against Kunlé. Meanwhile, though it seemed that Claude's alliance would be targeting Aurélie for having just been voted out in the previous cycle and for her poor sportsmanship against Laurence regarding the second individual Immunity Challenge, they instead voted out Abdellah for his recent scheming. When Kunlé won the second individual Reward Challenge, he chose to take Philippe on the reward with him, which left Claude alone with the women at camp for the day and night. With Claude criticizing some of the women yet again for not contributing to certain chores such as tending to the fire, Véronique, Laurence, and Marine discussed how they would prefer Philippe winning the competition over Claude and how they would be willing to strategize against Claude in order to achieve this. As Philippe and Kunlé were heading back from their reward the next day, the contestants back at camp had to send two people to trek in order to collect letters from home. Claude and Wafa went to retrieve the letters and, upon arriving at the trove, they were given the right to trade as many of the letters as they wanted for food. They chose to keep Véronique and Laurence's letters and trade the rest for food. When the pair returned to camp the next morning, Aurélie was disappointed that they did not keep her letter, but understood why they were willing to forfeit it. Later that day, Claude won the third individual Immunity Challenge fair and square, but he and some of the other contestants criticized Kunlé for a move that the latter had made during the challenge which seemed to benefit Claude. With Tribal Council taking place the following day, Marine was unable to secure the votes needed to eliminate Wafa, who was her secondary target considering that Claude had won immunity, and she was voted out in turn by most of Claude's alliance.
At the Final Seven, Véronique and Laurence, knowing that they would have Aurélie's vote, decided to act on their thoughts from the previous cycle and approached Philippe with a strategy to vote out Wafa if Claude won the next individual Immunity Challenge or vote out Claude if he failed to do so. Though Véronique told Philippe that flipping on Claude would be the best move to secure his spot in the Final Two, he told her that he would think about it after the next individual Immunity Challenge takes place. To the surprise of her tribemates, Véronique won the third individual Reward Challenge. In consequence, her reward was an overnight stay in Ho Chi Minh City and she chose to share her reward with Laurence due to a deal that they had made with each other. While the pair were on their reward, they further discussed their plans to potentially vote out Claude. Meanwhile, back at camp, Philippe seemed to have made up his mind, choosing to stick with Claude's alliance, and informed everyone except for Aurélie about what Véronique and Laurence had told him. When they returned to camp the next day, Véronique and Laurence sensed the bad ambiance around camp but decided that they'd still wait until after the fourth individual Immunity Challenge to talk to Philippe again about the plan. Breaking Claude's streak, Philippe won the fourth individual Immunity Challenge that afternoon, which he dedicated to his wife. When Véronique talked to Philippe about voting Claude out at Tribal Council now that he didn't have immunity for once, Philippe informed her that he would be sticking with Claude, which prompted Véronique to immediately side with him and throw Laurence under the bus for coming up with the strategy against Claude. Véronique ran away from Laurence at one point but explained why she was doing so when the latter caught up with the former. Throughout the rest of the cycle, there were tensions between the pair regarding the amount of responsibility either person had in terms of the failed strategy, however, Claude and Wafa knew that, regardless, they both had a stake in it and that they would need to be wary of them going forward. Right before Tribal Council, Véronique suffered from a hypoglycemic attack, which resulted in her being temporarily evacuated from the game and exempt from attending Tribal Council. At Tribal Council, Aurélie was voted out unanimously due to her lack of agency within the game. After Philippe won the fourth individual Reward Challenge, he gave the food portion of his reward to his tribemates for them to share. The next day, Claude won the fifth individual Immunity Challenge, which marked his fourth and final individual Immunity Challenge win this season. Upon returning to camp, Claude and Kunlé went exploring for food and collected six coconuts that they brought back to camp. However, the pair also found and ate a dozen bananas before coming back to camp and did not divulge this information to their tribemates until Tribal Council that night. At Tribal Council, Claude and Kunlé received criticism for their selfishness regarding the bananas, to which they responded that the bananas would have been spoiled had they brought them back to camp. The women's votes were scattered with Véronique, Wafa, and Kunlé each receiving a vote against them, however, the men succeeded in voting together to eliminate Laurence. At the Final Five, the family visit took place and the contestants competed in the fifth individual Reward Challenge, Choose Your Weapon. Kunlé won the third round and chose to eliminate Philippe from the challenge instead of Claude. This backfired as Claude defeated Kunlé in the final round, winning the challenge, and Philippe held a grudge against Kunlé for the remainder of the cycle. Because Philippe won the sixth individual Immunity Challenge, Véronique tried to convince him to vote against Claude at Tribal Council since that would be their last opportunity to eliminate him before the finale. Philippe told Véronique that he wouldn't do this, but also told her that he wouldn't vote against her either even though the rest of the tribe was planning on doing so. Véronique glumly got prepared to accept her fate, however, she noticed an opportunity to salvage her game when Philippe revealed to his tribemates that he would be voting Kunlé at Tribal Council because of what happened at the last Reward Challenge. Véronique approached Wafa and convinced her to vote against Kunlé with her at Tribal Council so that he would receive the majority of the votes, which would result in both women making the finale. At Tribal Council, Kunlé was blindsided in a 3-2 vote.
Having made it to the finale, Philippe won the Perch challenge at the Final Three and took Claude to the Final Two instead of Wafa. At the Final Tribal Council, both Claude and Philippe faced an angry jury, however, most of the jury eventually realized that their problems concerning Philippe were based on hearsay from Kunlé. Ultimately, Philippe's selflessness combined with Claude's faulty social game resulted in Philippe winning against Claude in a 6-1 vote.

La Nouvelle Édition[]
After the opening challenge, Denis Brogniart revealed to the eleven active contestants that they would be starting off the game individually rather than in tribes. With there being more women than men, Isabelle Da Silva formed an alliance with the five other women and they agreed to vote off either Phil Bizet or Philippe at the first Tribal Council. However, Florence Delbarre Reuter and Laurence Pizzocchia were hesitant to follow through on this plan due to their prior ties to Laurent Maistret and Philippe, respectively. The pair informed the men and, in turn, the men formed a counter-alliance and promised Florence and Laurence safety if they join them, which they did. The group originally planned to vote against Sandra Acabado at Tribal Council for not contributing as much around camp, but with the threat of her Hidden Immunity Necklace looming, they voted out ringleader Isabelle instead and left the rest of her alliance blindsided.
The next cycle, Freddy Boucher and Teheiura Teahui entered the game, bringing with them fire that they had started during their long trek in the first cycle. With the pair picking their respective tribemates, Philippe was selected by Freddy to be a part of the Simban tribe. Philippe made the merge alongside all of the other male competitors and Christina Chevry. With Freddy and Christina on the outs of an alliance of six, Philippe easily made the Final Six. At the Final Five, Laurent sensed that he was in danger of being voted out due to his challenge prowess, so he and Martin Bazin successfully convinced Phil to join them in voting out Philippe, who had already won Koh-Lanta before.
