"…when things finally calmed down, the Empire had conquered the planet."
Beaumont Kin, on Kashyyyk[3]

The pacification of Kashyyyk occurred on the planet Kashyyyk[1] in 19 BBY[2] following the end of the Clone Wars[1] when the Galactic Empire conquered the world[3] following a siege.[6] The betrayal of the local Wookiees began before the Empire was formally established, as the Galactic Republic's clone troopers, directly after defending Kashyyyk and fighting side-by-side with the Wookiees, turned on their allies with the execution of Order 66.[7] On the command of Sheev Palpatine, now the Galactic Emperor of the new Empire, the clones began to enslave their former allies.[8]

The Empire targeted Kashyyyk for its wealth in resources and to enslave the native Wookiees, who formed a resistance in response to the Imperial incursion.[5] Following the pacification, a Wookiee uprising occurred which the Trandoshan bounty hunter Bossk was instrumental in cowing.[1] No senator in the Imperial Senate tried to help when the planet was besieged, nor did they help when some Wookiees were taken off world to be made to labor in work camps and mines, as they were focused on helping their own worlds.[6]

One of the Imperial commanders during the operation, clone trooper CC-2224 "Cody,"[4] later deserted the Empire after questioning if the Empire was truly on the side of peace.[9]

  2. 2.0 2.1 The pacification of Kashyyyk takes place when Cody is still with the Galactic Empire. Cody deserts the Empire in The Bad Batch Season 2 episode "The Solitary Clone," which can be dated to 19 BBY per the reasoning here. Therefore, the pacification of Kashyyyk occurred between the the rise of the Empire (19 BBY) and the events of "The Solitary Clone" (19 BBY), meaning it also takes place 19 BBY.
