Moralo Eval was a Phindian male criminal mastermind who invented the Box during the Clone Wars. Eval masterminded a plot to kidnap Republic Chancellor Palpatine. Eval fled across the galaxy—with Obi-Wan Kenobi (disguised as Rako Hardeen) and Cad Bane—from Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano as wanted fugitives.
Biography[]
- "Your box does not appear to be as much of a challenge as I thought. Perhaps I should put Hardeen in charge of the mission."
"But, this was my plan. You promised me the lead role."
"You have one last test to change my mind."
"Do not fear, Count Dooku. I will show you who is weak." - ―Count Dooku and Eval discussing who will lead the mission to kidnap Palpatine
Moralo Eval had a loathsome reputation that started when he was a boy when he committed a heartless murder. Eval killed his mother and, when apprehended by the authorities, told them that he killed his mother because he was "bored". Eval then spent the rest of his life as a criminal and fugitive.
Eval's lifestyle gave him a sharp survival instinct, along with technical and engineering skills. During that time, Eval became deranged and developed many odd mannerisms which included talking about himself in the third person.[2]
During the Clone Wars, rumors surfaced that Eval was plotting to kidnap the Chancellor, despite being in a Republic jail.[4]
Sometime while Eval was in prison, he befriended Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, who was disguised as bounty hunter Rako Hardeen, in order to stop the assassination plot. Eval, along with fellow inmate Cad Bane, convinced Hardeen to escape the prison together.[4]
Fleeing the prison, they took a Republic cruiser and crash-landed on Nal Hutta, in order to escape pursuit. Hardeen purchased a new ship for the trio, as their old one was too damaged to fly again. The trio set out once more, this time for Serenno to meet up with Count Dooku and pursue the kidnapping plot.
Upon arrival on Serenno, Bane and Kenobi joined the other bounty hunters gathered there and took part in a series of tests devised by Eval. After Bane proved himself the leader that Dooku desired, Eval was relieved of command of the kidnapping mission and relegated to the role of getaway driver.
Ultimately, the Jedi and Republic efforts were successful and the plot foiled, and Eval taken back into custody.
