A groundcar on Jomark
A groundcar was any type of wheeled vehicle. Cars, as they were often called, were similar to landspeeders, but differing in that they moved by the rotation of wheels instead of repulsorlifts. This method was much older and slower, and prone to mechanical failure, but was useful as a cheap substitute to a speeder on a paved road.[1]
Most groundcars were civilian urban transit models, but some were military vehicles like the armored groundcar, and even massive tanks like the HAVw A6 Juggernaut.
The term was also colloquially applied to some tracked ground vehicles, such as personnel carriers.[2]
