The Great Vaults of Cato Neimoidia,[3] also known as the Palace of Baron Paw Maccon,[2] and formerly known as Lott Dod's palace, was the personal residence of Senator Lott Dod of the Trade Federation. It was located on a bridge city on Cato Neimoidia.[1] Following Dod's death during the Clone Wars, the palace was turned into a vault where individuals from all sectors across the galaxy kept some of their most precious possessions for safekeeping. In 34 ABY, Lor San Tekka was arrested after attempting to steal an artifact from one House Maccon's vaults.[3]

History[]

Clone Wars[]

During the Clone Wars in 21 BBY,[4] the palace acted as the personal residence of Senator Lott Dod of the Trade Federation, from where he conducted business and conspired with Separatist warlord Poggle the Lesser and Senator Rush Clovis of the Banking Clan to invest in a droid foundry on Geonosis.[5]

In that year, Senators Padmé Amidala of Naboo and Rush Clovis of Scipio undertook a diplomatic mission to Cato Neimoidia where Dod allowed both her and the banker to stay at the palace. When Amidala was shown her quarters, Clovis was taken to the palace's library by Dod. There, they discussed with Archduke Poggle the Lesser about the Banking Clan's investment in Count Dooku 's new droid foundry and the benefits it would bring. However, Dod and Poggle demanded a greater share of the foundry's profits in their greed. When Clovis refused, the other two resolved to poisoning Amidala to coerce the banker to acquiesce to their demands. With the help of a disguised Anakin Skywalker, Clovis confronted Dod and obtained the antidote, though he was still left behind to talk with the Neimoidian, as a squad of B1-series battle droids trained their blasters on him.[1]

Cold war[]

Dod later died during the war, and by 34 ABY, his palace was in the possession of Baron Paw Maccon of House Maccon.[3] It was repurposed as a vault for the Neimoidians' wealthy clients, with its protection assured by a contingent of repainted B2-series super battle droids, a squadron of vulture droids and several Neimoidian Royal Guards.

Baron Maccon attempted to persuade General Leia Organa to store her mother's precious dresses in his Vaults, while unbeknownst to him agents of the Resistance infiltrated the palace to rescue Lor San Tekka from the baron's clutches.[2]
