- "Ghost Company, let's move."
- ―Cody
Ghost Company was a famous company of clone troopers who served in the 212th Attack Battalion of the Grand Army of the Republic. Earning fame during the Clone Wars, the company fought for the Galactic Republic under the leadership of Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi and Clone Commander Cody. Some members of Ghost Company, notably the troopers Boil and Waxer, wore Phase I clone trooper armor with light-orange markings, and later Phase II clone trooper armor.
Description[]
An infantry company[1] in the 212th Attack Battalion[4] of the 7th Sky Corps,[1] the famed[5] Ghost Company served under the leadership of High Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi and Clone Marshal Commander Cody during the Clone Wars. A clone sergeant was also a member of the company.[1] As a company in the Grand Army of the Republic, its standard fighting strength was at 144 clone troopers divided into four platoons.[6] The clones Boil, Waxer, and Wooley served in the ranks of Ghost Company at the time of the Battle of Ryloth.[1]
Many soldiers of Ghost Company wore the standard white Phase I clone trooper armor. Some exceptions in the form of at least Cody, Boil, and Waxer, however, customized their clone trooper armor with light-orange markings,[1] the color signifier of the 212th.[4] Ghost Company later adopted the successor of Phase I, Phase II clone trooper armor, which they wore with the markings of the 212th Attack Battalion.[7]
History[]
Battle of Ryloth[]
Landing on Ryloth[]
During the Battle of Ryloth, the Galactic Republic sought to drive the forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems from the planet Ryloth, homeworld of the Twi'lek species. After breaking through the CIS Navy's blockade, the Republic Navy's Acclamator-class assault ships deployed several LAAT/i gunships carrying the clone troopers of Ghost Company, whose objective was to take the city of Nabat in order to gain a foothold on Ryloth. In addition, their orders were neutralize the Confederacy military's proton cannons that prevented the rest of the Republic's forces from landing. Prior to the initial attack, General Kenobi and Commander Cody instructed their troops to exercise caution and avoid harming civilians or their property while engaging the Separatist Droid Army.[1]
Ghost Company succeeded in destroying the city's outer defenses and established a command post to contact General Mace Windu. Cody then took Wooley, Waxer, and Boil to scout ahead. While Cody and Wooley located the cannons, Waxer and Boil found a Twi'lek girl, Numa, alone in the city. Cody and Wooley learned that the Separatist battle droids were using the population of Nabat as living shields to protect their cannons. When Cody and Wooley informed Kenobi of this, Ghost Company moved out toward the cannons despite Boil and Waxer not returning.[1]
Liberation of Nabat[]
The company was attacked by a herd of gutkurrs while making their way toward the city center. Through the Force Kenobi influenced the gutkurrs and led them away from his soldiers. Despite their decreased numbers, Ghost Company continued moving toward the guns until they found Waxer, Boil, and Numa. Kenobi then had Cody and Ghost Company distract the battle droids while he, Waxer, Boil, and Numa went through caves that led to the gutkurrs' cages. Cody and the remaining troops of Ghost Company were able to draw the droids away from the cannons,[1] and with their destruction the Republic was able to land its main force on Ryloth. Following the success of Ghost Company, while General Windu's force would go onto begin a march on the capital city of Lessu City,[1] Kenobi's forces managed to take the Jixuan desert.[8]
Second Battle of Geonosis[]
Ghost Company was part of the 212th's forces deployed into the Second Battle of Geonosis,[9] with Waxer and Boil also doubling as part of the 212th Recon Division.[10] The 212th suffered heavy losses as they fought[11] to keep their place at Point Rain against heavy Separatist opposition. In the end, however, Republic reinforcements helped to win the day and enforce the 212th's defense of Point Rain,[10] paving the way for Republic victory in the battle overall.[12]
