Dermatoglyphic identification,[1] also known as a fingerprint scan[2] was a form of physical and biological identification employed throughout the galaxy, and was used on species that developed dermatoglyphic patterns.[1]
It was considered to be one of the best identification systems in use, although it was not as precise as a retinal scan. The limitations of the system meant that dermatoglyphic identification could not differentiate between clones. In cases where species did not develop dermatoglyphic patterns, cytoplasmic biopsy and chitinous accretion analysis were amongst the alternative methods used for identifying them.[1]
Fingerprint scans could be used as a secondary identification system to activate vehicles that had been disabled by the BiVVol RVR-325 vehicle voice lock.[2]
