The ancient Kashyyyk title, Defender of the Home Tree was bestowed upon one who long protected the People of the Trees. These natives protected the Defender with their lives as the Defender did theirs.
In the days of the Old Republic, the term was used to describe Master Yoda, who, as Watchman of the Kashyyyk system, assisted in many negotiations with the Trandoshans.
