Bancar was a celestial body[3] located in the Bancar system, a part of the Outer Rim Territories' Rayter sector.[1] Around the time of the Battle of Yavin, Nak Farool, Special Assistant to the Galactic Empire's Moff Nile Owen of the Rayter sector, dispatched an Imperial II-xC Maintenance/Broadcast Ship from the planet Narg on a mission to the Laim system. The ship's crew stored a flight plan for a return trip to Narg into the computer system of the vessel, and while the ship was in the Laim system, a flight plan for further transit to Bancar was also being calculated. However, at that time, the Rebel Alliance spacetug Worthless Fool, the crew of which had learned of the Imperial activities in the Laim system, arrived there and captured the Imperial broadcast ship.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
Bancar was introduced in The Abduction, a 1992 roleplaying adventure authored by Chuck Truett and published by West End Games for use with Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[3] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Bancar system, and therefore the celestial body itself, in grid square J-19.[2]
