Ahsoka's Delta-7B Jedi Starfighter was a Delta-7B Aethersprite-class light interceptor piloted by Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano during the Clone Wars, periodically flying with R7-A7 as her astromech droid co-pilot. She piloted the ship during the Battle of Ryloth[3] and the Battle of Umbara.[4]
History[]
Battle of Ryloth[]
Ahsoka Tano was made Blue Leader by Anakin Skywalker and flew the starfighter, along with R7-A7, during the Battle of Ryloth in 21 BBY. Her goal was to lead Blue Squadron to break through the Separatist blockade consisting of a Lucrehulk-class battleship and two Munificent-class star frigates, allowing the Republic invasion fleet led by Masters Mace Windu and Obi-Wan Kenobi to commence their ground attack to liberate the occupied planet. She was initially successful at destroying the droid fighters and pressing their defences, until four more frigates joined the blockade, catching Skywalker and Tano by surprise. Tano disobeyed Skywalker's order for her squadron to retreat back to the Resolute and continued the battle, resulting in over half her squadron being shot down. Tano made it back to the Resolute just before Skywalker had his fleet jump to hyperspace. They would later break the blockade, allowing the Republic forces to get through.[3]
Tano later flew her Delta-7B alongside Skywalker in a campaign to destroy Hyena-class droid fighter/bombers which were targeting populated villages. Skywalker and Tano destroyed the last of them before they bombed the capital city of Lessu.[5]
Battle of Umbara[]
In 20 BBY, Tano flew her Delta-7B in the Battle of Umbara. Alongside her friend Barriss Offee who flew in her own Delta-7B, Tano commanded a fighter squadron consisting of Z-95 Headhunters and BTL-B Y-wing fighter/bombers. Their efforts allowed the Republic to break through the Separatist blockade defending the planet.[4]
Later use[]
Tano and Skywalker flew their Delta-7Bs to Plop Dribble's at the spaceport on Stobar. They had intended to rendezvous with their cruiser, but Skywalker was hungry and had grown tired of government rations. Nevertheless, they witnessed the aftermath of events after Savage Opress assaulted one of the waitresses working at the diner.[6]
By the time of the Battle of Cato Neimoidia, Tano ceased to use her Delta-7B and switched to an Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptor.[7]
Crew[]
The starfighter was piloted by Ahsoka Tano, who also functioned as its captain. Tano's astromech droid R7-A7 functioned as the ship's navigator and repairer should it be damaged in combat.[3]
