About your Montana Secretary of State

Christi Jacobsen became Montana’s 22nd Secretary of State on January 4, 2021.

Secretary Jacobsen has delivered historic results for Montanans by cutting red tape for businesses, eliminating and cutting fees, strengthening election integrity in Montana, and leading with a servant’s heart. Under her leadership, the Secretary of State has served a record number of new and existing businesses.

Secretary Jacobsen is a native Montanan, born and raised in Helena. She graduated from Capital High School and Carroll College and earned her master’s degree in public administration from the University of Montana. She and her husband, Eric, raised their family in Helena. Christi has over two decades of leadership, business, and public service experience.
