Ocean Malasada is popping up at Churn this Saunday

SF pop-up Ocean Malasada specializes in, you guessed it, malasadas, a Hawaiian treat that’s often described as a “doughnut” or “fritter” elsewhere in the country. Its pop-ups routinely attract long lines and sell out swiftly, which is why its December 1 event at Churn Urban Creamery (2646 San Bruno Avenue) — part of Ocean Malasada’s annual holiday pop-up series — is so brief: just 10 a.m. to noon, or “until we sell out.” Pre-orders are available, and are recommended for those unwilling to head to the Portola at the crack of dawn.

The Castro community is holding two fundraising events for the restaurants destroyed by a recent fire

An early-morning blaze on November 16 damaged two buildings in the Castro, structures that housed eight people as well as ground-floor businesses Osaka Sushi, Q Bar, and Cafe Mystique. The businesses will get a grant from SF’s Small Business Disaster Relief Fund, and will also benefit from two fundraisers this week: one that will run from 8 to 11 p.m. on November 27 at drag hotspot Oasis (298 11th Street), and a second will be held 3 to 7 p.m. on November 30 at Beaux (2344 Market Street).

A Potrero Hill ice cream shop and a Russian Hill restaurant have been robbed in recent days

At 2:30 a.m. Thursday, security cameras at Milkbomb captured footage of a woman who walked into the ice cream shop and stole its cash register, KPIX reports. Then, on Saturday, Abrazo owner Michael Pawlik tells ABC 7 that someone broke through the restaurant’s front window and stole “several iPads and his collection of culinary knives.”

A Richmond District resident has made a sweet video tribute to Clement Street’s many restaurants and stores

SF native Joey Yee is the man behind “What To Do In San Francisco’s 2nd Chinatown,” a short film that guides viewers through the area’s many restaurants, bars, and stores. Spots like legacy business Toy Boat Dessert Cafe, Irish pub the Bitter End, and Hong Kong-style restaurant D & A Cafe all get a nice turn in the spotlight.

Aziza/Mourad owner Mourad Lahlou and dancer Mathilde Froustey tied the knot this weekend

The romance between Mourad Lahlou, the owner of recently-reopened Richmond District restaurant Aziza and Bauer-beloved Mourad and SF Ballet principal dancer Mathilde Froustey was glowingly touted in the Chron earlier this year. The pair made it official this weekend, per an Instagram post by Ubuntu founder Jeremy Fox. The wedding’s hashtag is #maimem, for those who wish to see more from the day.
