Warriors Sign on Local Food Vendors for New Chase Center

Soul food, Filipino fare, and dumplings will all appear when it opens in 2019

Though it won’t open its doors until 2019, the Warriors new arena is promising to be worth the wait for fans of both food and basketball. The team announced an extensive lineup of local food vendors, driven by the teams own preferences and partnerships with management companies Bon Appetit and Levy Restaurants.

When it’s finished, the arena will have over 18,000 seats, plus 100,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space. The ten new vendors announced today are part of the “Taste Makers at Chase Center” program that benefits Bay Area businesses via networking and educational programs, creating a massive opportunity for small businesses on a huge platform.

Leading the additions are La Cocina and Old Skool Cafe, both of which are non-profits. La Cocina, the incubator that provides resources to food businesses run by low-income women, will have various featured vendors, starting with Alicia’s Tamales Los Mayas. Old Skool Cafe, a soul food restaurant based in nearby Bayview-Hunters Point, offers mentorship opportunities, training, and employment to youth who’ve been incarcerated, or otherwise at risk.

Check out the rest of the lineup below, which contains one notable expection: Ayesha Curry’s International Smoke didn’t make the cut, which the Chron reports is partially because of rules in the NBA’s collective bargaining agreement. Otherwise, it’s looking like a very delicious lineup that will rival (exceed?) AT&T Park’s offerings.

Sarap Shop
A Filipino-American food truck serving comfort food with thoughtful, healthy options. Much of the menu is vegan, with options like tofu sisig alongside more traditional pork belly adobo.

Tony G’s
Chef Tony Geminagni has developed a special concept for the arena. It will serve pizza, presumably, as do all of his restaurants including Tony’s Pizza Napoletana and Tony’s Slicehouse.

Live Sushi and Dumpling Time
The Omakase Restaurant Group will drop in two of its most popular offerings, bringing sushi and dumplings thousands of hungry fans. And, special to the arena location of Dumpling Time: dim sum.

Chef BOUG
Known for her craby cake po’boys and Lousiana-inspired dishes at her Bayview restaurant, Boug Creole Deli, chef Tiffany Carter is bringing her style of soul food to the big time.

CC Made
Berkeley-based CC Made is already available in local specialty shops in the area. Now arena attendees can sample owner Cassandra Chen’s spiced almond and rosemary cashew popcorn, caramels, and toasted sesame and nori brittle.

Earl’s Brittle
Bayview resident Earl Shaddix has previously sold his brittles at farmers markets. Now he’ll bring the sweet stuff to the Chase Center, where his high-quality snack will be found at kiosks throughout the arena.

Yvonne’s Southern Sweets
Another sweet Bayview vendor, Yvonne Hines makes southern sweets like pecan brittle, old school butter cookies, miniature lemon pies, and sweet potato and pecan pies.

Sugar and Spun
This locally made cotton candy comes in flavors like strawberry shortcake, matcha latte, and salted chocolate peanut butter, all made with organic sugar.

Five Dot Ranch
This family-run ranch was founded in 1959, and have been treating their cattle with care (and no antibiotics or hormones) ever since. It’s unclear what their presence at the stadium will look like, but they run a butcher shop and restaurant at Napa’s Oxbow Market with options like a beef bacon BLT.

The new additions will join previously announced vendors that are part of the “only in the bay” program offerings, and include:

  • Bakesale Betty, Oakland’s fried chicken sandwich maven
  • Tacolicious, the popular SF taco chain
  • Sam’s Chowder House, the Half Moon Bay institution
  • Hot Dog Bill’s Burger Dog, a delicacy previously only available only to members at San Francisco’s Olympic Club Golf Course
  • Big Nate’s BBQ, the return of much-loved and now-closed barbecue spot from NBA Hall-of-Famer and former Warrior Nate Thurmond

Stay tuned as more vendors are added down the line.
