Tratto, the new restaurant in The Marker Hotel (in the former BDK/Hotel Monaco space), is now open, offering an Italian "aperitivo" vibe.
That means lots of large communal tables, cocktails, small plates and family-style entrees of rustic Italian food from chef Kevin Scott (Big 4). The interior has been renovated by the Puccini Group (a restaurant consulting group) with fresh white walls, chestnut leather banquettes, and large, landscape line drawings on the wall, from SF artist Amos Goldbaum. He's the first artist-in-residence at Tratto (which hints that the artwork may change at some point), and are a detailed rendition of the San Francisco skyline, from a Tenderloin point-of-view. The distinctive patterned floor and bar shelves are all that remain of BDK's dark and pattern-filled interior from Ken Fulk; delicate pendants from Rich Brilliant Willing have taken the place of the large, chain-laden lighting fixtures that lived there before.
Tratto is now open seven days a week for breakfast and dinner, and weekend brunch.
