The Den, Bayview's new Craftsman and Wolves outpost, is now open and serving up a plethora of pastries, baked goods, and coffee.
The new shop from chef/owner William Werner is a miniature version of the bakery's two larger outposts in the Mission and Russian Hill, serving as outward-facing component of the commissary kitchen that produces the goods for all of them. The production facility has actually been there for years, producing the stylish pastries and goods (like matcha milk jam) that San Franciscans crave.
There's also a few heartier options, including granola in the morning, a salad, sandwich, and pizza by the slice (veggie only for now, but meat is on the horizon). And, reports Hoodline, The Den has a "good neighbor" policy inspired by a pizzeria in Philly, wherein customers can buy a slice of pizza for themselves and someone in need. The customer receives a sticky note with a message that they stick on the window, redeemable by any neighborhood person who needs a slice.
The new spot is now open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m.- 2 p.m.
