Time flies, and it’s flown by for the last 30 years while Cafe Campagne has quietly stayed as one of the city’s premiere French bistros and tenant in Pike Place Market. Staying open that long is a feat for any restaurant, but certainly a notable one in such a landmark Seattle location. For nearly all that time, Daisley Gordon has worked there and bought the place in 2016. The Seattle Times has a lovely profile of the restaurant for its anniversary, and Gordon too. This is your gentle reminder to stop for a bowl of French onion soup, duck confit, or a cassoulet to warm your soul and support a local business.

Knitters unite — over a cup of coffee

If you love coffee and knitting, there’s a new cafe in town to be aware of. Stitch Cafe invites you in for knitting supplies and to look over exhibits from our.common.thread, Stitch Tits, and Peach Needle Art Studio, per a report in the Capitol Hill Seattle blog. Owner Sarah Chae partnered with Shimon Masaki of Upright Tree Coffee Roasters, and those beans are being served to ardent fans of the textural arts. It is open now at 1408 E. Pine St.

Finally, it’s Fine Baking Co.

As we previously noted, the opening of this bakery in Morgan Junction was imminent. And now, diners can pop in for the cake of their dreams. Fine Baking Co. serves cupcakes in basic flavors (lemon, funfetti, chocolate, strawberry, you know the drill) by the dozens, as well as fancier cupcakes (flavors include chocolate chip, white chocolate and strawberry, peanut butter and jelly, and more), cookies, cakes, and cake pops. It will hold a grand opening party on Saturday, October 26, at 4 p.m. Join them at 6969 California Ave. SW.

A Caribbean and Latin place opens in a former firehouse

Welcome to the neighborhood, Fuego Restaurant and Lounge. The restaurant opened in a former firehouse in Ballard. Its chef, Rodrigo Rodriguez, tells My Ballard that the menu will include “Dominican, Puerto Rican, and contemporary Central American” food as well as “a fusion of tropical and Caribbean flavors combined with Mexican cuisine.” Jose and Sonia Paulino, the owners, are also the proprietors of Fuego Nightclub in Tacoma and Las Palmas Restaurant near SeaTac airport. Find their newest venture at 5425 Russell Ave. NW.
