From Lust To Ravagement

I've been wanting a mum since spring. I knew what color I wanted and where I was going to plant it. I finally got one last week and was so excited. I got one that was in a half gallon container.  Not a bad size.  I figured  when October rolled around I'd have this lush, beautiful fall flower. I envisioned it looking like this:

And instead got this:
The kitten has ravaged it.  Sigh.  In a few short weeks he's gone from, "Oh thank you, thank you for saving my life," to "It's all about me." How quickly they forget:)

Batman V Superman

The actors were great, but the story line was not the typical Batman/Superman action flick.  I came away with the feeling it was more of a prelude to the upcoming  Wonder  Woman film, which by the way I am looking forward to.

Birds and Buggies

Why am I taking pictures of carts--or buggies as they are called in the South?  Good question. And here's the answer.  See those brown blobs in my picture?  They're birds.  For whatever reason, these carts were very popular with sparrows this weekend. It wasn't a grocery store so I'm assuming crumbs weren't the draw. Maybe some bird seed got spilled, though it seems like that would have went straight through the bottom of the buggy.  Anyhoo they were entertaining to watch flitting in and out of the carts.  They were moving faster than  Friday night grocery shoppers and that's saying something.

Lion Cut

Since Faux  spends a lot of time on the porch, in the past, she has gotten lion cuts in the summer to keep her cool.
But on her thirteenth birthday last year, the vet  and I both felt she was getting too old to be sedated for a cut, so now  instead of a Lion Cut she gets the Cox Chop:)

At a certain age practicality replaces vanity:)

JasonBourne

We saw it this weekend.  Just let me say to the women who are contemplating involvement with Jason Bourne: Run, run far away.  That aside:) it's a great action flick.  As always, Matt Damon delivers.  And I'm really hoping they aged Tommy Lee Jones.....
Have you seen it yet?  Did you like it?

IWSG Wednesday

The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Group day. Members post about their  doubts and fears, discuss struggles and triumphs, and offer words of encouragement to others who are struggling.

AUGUST 3RD QUESTION: What was your very first piece of writing as an aspiring writer? Where is it now? Collecting dust or has it been published?
My first story was The Agent and Mrs. Springer and....it's collecting dust.
Now my question for you authors: Were your sales down in July?
Historically, it seems most authors' sales drop.  Hope yours held.

I'm going to go in a different direction today. I'd like to recommend a movie that deals with motivation and tenacity.  Something that as writers we need two hundred and twenty percent of. Do you ever find your mood revolves around your sales or lack thereof?  Been there.  Done that. And how stupid is that.  There is so much more to life than book sales. But anyhow, my point being, writing is a huge struggle on so many fronts and it's easy to drop off the grid because of feeling beaten down or one too many challenges. Every book today is up against millions of others.  Rather daunting, hey?
Sometimes it's hard to remember that people other than authors, in all walks of life, have challenges just as daunting, with unattainable goals that they are determined to reach and refuse to give up until they do.
Eddie The Eagle is about just such a young man, that fought on no matter the odds, no matter the obstacles in his way.  If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.  Not only is it a feel good movie, it's highly motivation.  Fight On.

Right of Way

When I first laid our walkway the critters wouldn't use it.  Now they won't get off it.   There's usually a lineup when I'm on it: the cats, the dog, and me.   Unfortunately, there's no passing zone. We need another lane.
