Auditions

....for the hosiery commercial weren't going as expected.....

 More legs, of course!

I Like to Draw Legs.....

 .....yes I do!

Which, of course, made me think of the lyrics to Baby Got Back (because that's the way my twisted mind works) ....you know, ♫♪♫♪♫♪ I like big butts.....♫♪♫♪♫♪

Except in my case I like to draw legs.....

And once is never enough, right?

Husband said I should title this one "Waiting to Vote 2020"
I think that's a perfect title!

Focus Girl, Focus!

I'm all over the place lately. Art wise I mean. I can't seem to focus on one thing and follow it through to the finish. I flit from one idea to the next as they pop into my head.

This was to be the beginning of a comic.....

On the other hand maybe that's okay. If I can get the ideas down on paper I can always revisit them and form them into something cohesive later......maybe......SQUIRREL!

It’s Not Cheating, Its A Tool

My mother used to tell me “You don’t have to reinvent the wheel, you know.”

She was right. Why reinvent the wheel when you can cut and paste it in Photoshop! LOL

I enjoy sketching with pen and paper but I also love to draw digitally. Neither one is superior to the other. Both take skill and knowledge (and practice……lots and lots of practice.)

And I love how I can use both to blend into a new whole.

(They needed something to look at!)

To Ink or Not To Ink......

Not sure if I'm going to keep up for Inktober but thought I'd give it the 'ole college try.
Not using prompts or trying to do it daily, just freewheeling it.....we'll see how it goes.
(and yes, it's okay to 'recycle'....lol.)

Sometimes a Girl Needs to Ruminate

My report cards were always full of comments saying "Daydreams during class".
So I looked up other words for daydreaming and when the teacher scolded me I answered I wasn't daydreaming I was ruminating!
I thought I was very clever.....apparently they didn't agree!

The Reading Fairy

When I was little I was jealous of BigBro.

HE got to go to school!

He knew how to read!

HE got to carry big important looking books!

HE got to have homework! I thought it was all so cool! (What can I say? I was uninformed! LOL)

So on my first day of ‘real’ school I was so excited!

I was going to learn to READ!

The problem was…..someone told me there was a magic reading fairy (not saying who……BigBro) who waved a wand over your head and ‘poof’ you knew how to read!

No one told me you had to PRACTICE reading! What was all this phonetic stuff?

Where was the magic wand?

I still remember coming home that first day and feeling sooooo disappointed and betrayed!

Let’s Play a Game

It’s called ‘Whatever Happened To……?’

We ALL do it. Our minds drift back to our childhood and we begin to wonder…..whatever happened to our best friend from fourth grade …….whatever happened to the seven Schmidt kids, all with names that started with ‘M’ (which, BTW, I still remember….all seven of them!)

Then of course we Google…….just out of curiosity mind you, to see what pops up.

And what to my wondering eyes should appear?

I find that an old boyfriend lives 2.7 miles away from me! Did you get that???? TW0 POINT SEVEN MILES AWAY!

I’m sure we must shop at the same grocery store! Not that either one of us would recognize the other….I hope.

But what are the chances that I moved over fourteen hundred miles and ended up two point seven miles away from him? We didn’t live that close to each other when we were dating for God’s sake!

If I find out my ex-fiancé lives here I'm moving!

It's Official!

I'm officially an illustrator!

No, I was NOT hired by the New Yorker. No, I did NOT sell my book idea to a publishing house. No, I did NOT self publish a comic strip that went viral......

What I did do was buy myself a pair of finger-less cotton gloves to wear while I work on Cindy Cintiq!
So now, at least, I LOOK official!
Can you say  delusions of grandeur......LOL.

B&W

I'm officially addicted to the Cintiq, which I have lovingly named Cindy. Cindy Cintiq......I think it's quite catchy. She seems to like it too!

And I've been in a black and white mood lately.

Playing with character development and expressions.
And I need lots of practice with body shapes/types/positions.
Hence this:

Which, of course, leads my mind in all sorts of directions and story lines........
Every year their mother made them pose for a picture, in their nice new clothes, on the first day of school
.....which then lead to this........
Martin was NOT happy about the first day of school

I know JUST how Martin feels........lol.

It's All About Perspective

There was a slight disparity between the way Throcky saw himself.......
The minute you walked in the joint
I could see you were a man of distinction
A real big spender
Good lookin' so refined......

.......and the way others saw him.......

Look Ma, I'm Growing Owls!

Many palm trees grow fruit but this is the first time I've seen them sprouting owls! LOL
We have an unofficial 'contest' going with the neighbors about where the owls spend their time hanging out.......we text each other pictures when they're in our yards....ya' know, to brag.....
One or two are usually here but they also spend their time across the street.
Today all four of them chose OUR tree to hang out in/on........FOR THE WIN!

Covid Made Me Do It

I have ALWAYS made my bed daily.

Always.

I don’t deviate from this routine. Ever. My mother taught me that you make the bed the minute you get out of it. Period. No arguing, no hesitation, no procrastination, you just do it.

So I get out of bed, smooth the sheets, stow the pillows in the headboard, pull up the comforter and artfully arrange the throw pillows. DONE.

In doing this daily task you set yourself up to be productive. And if for some reason you don’t get anything else done that day AT LEAST YOU MADE YOUR BED!

I have since heard this reasoning from other sources but my mother taught it to me first.

I have carried on this legacy for sixty-seven years! (not a bad run if I do say so myself!)

Until now……..

And it’s ALL Covid’s fault!

I just don’t feel motivated enough to make my bed anymore. I do a ‘sort of’ straightening of the sheets and I fluff up the pillows, but…….I don’t bother with the comforter or the decorative throw pillows anymore.

And I say it’s all Covid’s fault! And Trump’s…..but we won’t go there. I’m depressed enough.

This is how civilization ends my friends. Not with a bang or a whimper but with a profusion of unmade beds!

Proof of Alien Life.......

Husband said he had definitive PROOF that aliens live among us and then showed me this.
Alien or not I think it's adorable!
