ਉਸ ਦੀ ਯਾਦਗਾਰ 28 ਅਗਸਤ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਮਨਾਈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਸਰਾਬ ਕਢਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ, ਪ੍ਰਿੰਟਰਾਂ, ਧਰਮਸ਼ਾਸਤਰੀਆਂ, ਦੁਖਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਠੀਕ ਕਰਨ, ਅਤੇ ਅਨੇਕ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਬਿਸ਼ਪਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਰਪ੍ਰਸਤ ਸੰਤ ਹੈ।[7]

ਸੰਤ ਅਗਸਤੀਨ' ਦਾ ਜਨਮ 13 ਨਵੰਬਰ 354 ਨੂੰ ਰੋਮਨ ਅਫਰੀਕਾ ਦੇ ਨਗਰ ਥਾਗਸਤ (ਹੁਣ ਸੂਕ ਅਹਰਾਸ, ਅਲਜੇਰੀਆ) ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ।[8][9] ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਾਤਾ, ਮੋਨਿਕਾ, ਇੱਕ ਧਰਮੀ ਮਸੀਹੀ ਸੀ; ਉਸਦਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਪੈਤਰੀਸੀਅਸ ਇੱਕ ਪੈਗਾਨ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਰਨ ਸਮੇਂ ਈਸਾਈ ਧਰਮ ਧਾਰ ਲਿਆ ਸੀ।[10]
