It doesn’t get much more comforting than the dumpling — delicate dough stuffed with some combination of ingredients which has been boiled, steamed, or fried. Popular at dim sum feasts in Chinatowns around the country, New Orleans may have few such offerings (Panda King in Gretna has the market cornered on dim sum cart service) but there are still plenty of local dumplings to die for, found at New Orleans’s best spots for Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, and more. And not for nothing, the frozen version carried at Hong Kong Market in Gretna can satisfy a craving in a pinch.

Try Royal China’s dragon dumplings — their version of the soup dumpling that is best eaten with happy caution. You don’t see fried chicken dumplings everywhere, and these are good.
