A family-run Brazilian restaurant centered around the cuisine’s traditional small bites and other specialties opens tomorrow in Arabi, reports NOLA.com. Quitutes, from local couple Marie Pereira Lawson and Jake Lawson as well as chef and friend Ju Freire, will also join Metairie’s Grand Central Drive Thru in the coming months.
The Arabi location (6617 Judge Perez Drive) is a fast-casual restaurant with counter service and a full bar, and offers drive-thru service. In addition to its namesake focus of quitutes, or Brazilian snacks like pao de queijo (cheese bread), coxinha (chicken fritters), and kibbe (beef and bulgur fritters), the restaurant serves picanha, a Brazilian-style cut of steak, shish kabobs, and sandwiches. The Metairie location, drive-thru only, will have a a smaller menu of quitutes and kebabs.
Quitutes is hosting a grand opening party at 11 a.m. tomorrow, August 24, that will have food specials, music, and a capoeira (Brazilian martial arts) demo. Following the grand opening, the restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, closed on Monday.
