Ultra Software Corporation (also known as Ultra Games) was a dummy corporation created in 1988 as a subsidiary of Konami of America, in an effort to get around Nintendo of America's strict licensing rules. One of these rules was that a third-party company could only have five titles per year approved for the Nintendo Entertainment System in North America. Konami, who had made multiple successful titles for the NES, created Ultra as an end-run around this rule.[1]
