NHL Blades of Steel '99 is a sports game (focused on ice hockey) for the Nintendo 64. It is licensed by the National Hockey League and its Player's Association.

Gameplay[]

In Europe, the game was released under the title NHL Pro 99.

The game has three gameplay modes: Exhibition, Season, and Playoff. Player creation is available and stats are saved in nearly 40 categories. Real-world San Jose Sharks TV play-by-play commentator Randy Hahn provides the in-game play-by-play. The Rumble Pak is also supported.

As in the real-world sport of hockey, the object is to score more goals than the opposing team to win the game.

Teams[]

All the 27 NHL teams from that year appear in the game, including the expansion team the Nashville Predators.

Box Art[]

The box art for the game is a still shot of former player Jaromir Jagr of the Pittsburgh Penguins who was the scoring leader the previous season.
