In Xenoblade Chronicles, Monado Shield blocks one Talent Art attack from an enemy, provided the enemy's talent art is not a higher level than Monado Shield. It is also used by Zanza during his boss battles.
In Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Monado Shield can be used as an art by both Rex and Zeke if Shulk is linked to them as a Blade.

Super Smash Bros. series[]
Monado Shield appears as one of Shulk's five usable Monado arts in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It increases Shulk's Shield life and reduce both the damage and knockback recieved. In exchange, it lower Shulk's speed, damage output and recovery. In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U it will last 15 seconds and have a cooldown of 10 seconds. In Ultimate, it is more powerful but will only last 6 seconds for an increased cooldown of 18. Kirby can also performs Monado Shield by copying Shulk in both games.
Trivia[]
The symbol that appears on the Monado when Monado Shield is activated is the kanji "盾", which means "shield". Shield thus is one of the only few arts that has a kanji that literally translates to its skill.
