Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe is a platformer set in the Kirby series. It is a remake of 2011's Kirby's Return to Dream Land originally released on the Wii, and includes graphical changes, new Copy Abilities, minigames, and modified multiplayer. It was released worldwide for the Nintendo Switch on February 24, 2023.
Gameplay[]
Differences from the original[]
These are the following changes from the original game:
- All characters have outlines, even during cutscenes.
- King Dedede, Meta Knight, and Bandana Waddle Dee have been given additional moves to more closely match their appearance as Dream Friends in Kirby Star Allies and Buddies in Kirby Fighters 2.
- Bandana Waddle Dee is now referred to by that name, whereas in the original, he was just called "Waddle Dee". He is also voiced, using the same clips as Kirby and the Forgotten Land.
- Higher resolution and improved graphics.
- Reworked HUD artwork and UI changes.
- Remastered music tracks.
- Kirby's voice clips have been changed.
Copy abilities[]
The game has a few new abilities, and one not present in the original:
- Mecha - Grants Kirby robotic abilities with laser beams.
- Sand - Allows Kirby to use sand attacks in different forms such as fists, castles, and blasts.[1]
- Festival - A returning ability from Kirby Star Allies that spawns a party attack.[2]
Assist modes[]
Two new assist modes have been included in the game. Helper Magalor spawns the character in gameplay at random, giving the player an extra health bar, periodical health items, fall recovery, and a Copy Ability star. There's also an Auto Swallow option. Both can be accessed in the pause menu at any time.
Merry Magoland[]
The sub-games are organized into Merry Magoland which includes game also includes new and enhanced games from past entries not present in the original. All minigames are only same-system. It is run by Manager Magolor, who will give tips and share data from other player around the world
Some games have indirect online components but, there is no online play. Playing Sub-Games will accumulate stamps, which unlock cosmetic character masks or items for use in the main game

- Egg Catcher, a minigame from Kirby's Adventure
- Kirby on the Draw, a minigame from Kirby Super Star Ultra
- Ninja Dojo, a minigame from Kirby's Return to Dream Land
Magolor Epilogue: The Interdimensional Traveler[]
The game has an all-new post-game adventure mode, in which Magolor must venture through over 20 worlds and recover his lost powers. The game is unlocked after completing the base game's story. It also supports 4-player co-op.
Amiibo[]
The game supports all Amiibo, which grants the player food and stars. Using Kirby and BOXBOY! series amiibo figures spawns some stars, a Maxim Tomato, and a random Copy Ability star.
Past Adventures[]
This mode allows players to listen to music tracks (primarily title themes) of series' past installments, view artwork, and read descriptions of each game featured.

Development[]
The game was announced at a Nintendo Direct presentation in September 2022.
Performance[]
The game mainly runs at 60fps, while Merry Magoland mode runs at 30fps.
Reception[]
The game received "generally favorable reviews" on Metacritic with a score of 80/100, three points higher than the original game.
Trivia[]
- This is the first Kirby game to be remastered for a home console.
- The new outline art style closely resembles the one from Kirby Battle Royale.
- The new logo uses the Kirby logo used since Kirby and the Forgotten Land.
- For PAL versions, the North American title was used, replacing the "Kirby's Adventure Wii" name.
- For North America, the box art is based on the one used for international regions.
