The Star Children are a modified humanoid species created and experimented on by High Evolutionary. They evolved from their original race as Fish.
History[]
Creation[]
In his quest to create the perfect society, High Evolutionary[1] went to Earth and abducted several Fish,[2] experimenting on them and turning them into the Star Children, a humanoid species with enhanced abilities.[1]
Prisoners[]
Liberation[]
The Star Children were promptly kept as prisoners on Arête Laboratories until the Guardians of the Galaxy broke in. Nebula and Mantis tried to communicate with the species, but they were not taught English, speaking Orbose instead. Luckily, Drax the Destroyer was knowledgeable in their language and was able to communicate with the Star Children. This allowed them to help with the liberation of not only their species, but all of the other species that were kept in the laboratory.[1]
Phyla[]
Guardian of the Galaxy[]
One Star Children, who went by the name of Phyla, decided to join her saviors and became a Guardian of the Galaxy. This team, now led by Rocket Raccoon, went on a mission on a planet. There, they attempted to save the civilians and keep them out of harm's way.[3]
Characteristic Traits[]
Star Children have notable lines above their lips which used to act as their gills while they were Fish. However, the gills mutated once they became mammals. Additionally, High Evolutionary did not teach the children English. Instead, he taught them Orbose, a different language unknown to any Guardians except Drax the Destroyer and was absent from Translator Implants.
