The Robbery of the Farmers & Merchants Bank was a bank heist committed by Benjamin Pollack and Claire Weiss with the Chitauri Gun they acquired from the Battle of New York.

Benjamin Pollack and Claire Weiss found a Chitauri Gun from the Battle of New York that supposedly fell into of their laps. Despite the weapons seemingly having all been broken, Pollack repaired the weapon and learned how to use it. Due to being unemployed, Pollack and Weiss agreed to take their weapon as a sign of good fortune and use it to rob a bank, choosing the Farmers & Merchants Bank.[1]

Pollack, armed with the Chitauri Gun, shot around the bank lobby and destroyed several structures. While Pollack tried to control the bank patrons, Weiss swiped cash from the front desk before moving on to the secure deposits. Pollack blasted open the door so Weiss could retrieve the money and they both escaped with it.[1]

Pollack and Weiss successfully robbed several different banks throughout the East Coast, amassing a significant amount of money.
The use of the Chitauri Gun in all the robberies drew S.H.I.E.L.D.'s attention, and Jasper Sitwell was tasked to neutralize them. He found and confronted them in a Florida motel, only to end up recruiting them for S.H.I.E.L.D.[1]
