The North Atlantic Treaty Organization, commonly referred to as NATO, is an intergovernmental military alliance based on the North Atlantic Treaty.

Arrest of Baron Strucker[]

During the Attack on the HYDRA Research Base, the Avengers fought and defeated Baron Strucker. Strucker and the surviving HYDRA soldiers were taken into NATO custody following this defeat. Ultron would later on break into the facility, murder Strucker and write the word "Peace" on his cell walls in Strucker's own blood.[1]

By 2026, Sergio Caspani, the Secretary General of NATO, was kidnapped and replaced by a Skrull impostor. "Caspani" later commented on the terrorist attack in Moscow, claiming that NATO was working on gathering intel on the bombing.[2]
