- "Staten Island Ferry. Eleven o'clock."

MV Spirit of America was a Staten Island Ferry used to transport people from Manhattan to Staten Island.
History[]
Illegal Weapons Deal[]
- "Oh, this is too perfect. I got the weapons, the buyers and the sellers all in one place."
- ―Spider-Man to Karen[src]
Striking a deal with Mac Gargan, Adrian Toomes and his crew planned to meet him on the Staten Island Ferry to make the deal happen. Peter Parker and Tony Stark both learned of the deal, and Spider-Man went to intercept the exchange, while Stark informed the FBI. When Toomes' crew, Gargan, and the FBI arrived at the terminal, they all boarded Spirit of America, with Spider-Man landing on the roof just after the vessel departed.
With the Spirit of America on its way to Staten Island, Adrian Toomes' Crew and Mac Gargan met in the hull of the boat to make the deal. Just before the deal took place, Spider-Man intervened. Spider-Man attacked Gargan and Herman Schultz, knocking Gargan off the side of the boat, and tapping Schultz in the railing. Schultz informed Toomes that Spider-Man had showed up, so Toomes headed down to the hull to put on his exo-suit.
Just when Toomes arrived in the hull, the FBI executed their own ambush, holding Spider-Man at gunpoint, and providing a distraction for Toomes to put on his exo-suit. Toomes then attacked Spider-Man and the FBI agents who returned fire. Spider-Man managed to disarm Vulture, but the weapon began to malfunction and started blasting uncontrollably, forcing Spider-Man to attempt to trap it under his Synthetic Webbing. With Spider-Man busy trying to contain Vulture's weapon, Vulture made his escape along with Shocker.
Unable to contain Vulture's weapon, the gun exploded, splitting the Spirit of America in half. Spider-Man]then attempted to save the ship from sinking by pin pointing the strongest points and attaching them to each other with his Synthetic Webbing. He succeeded in attaching ninety-eight percent of the ship, but the remaining two percent caused enough stress, causing the webbing to snap and the ship to start sinking. Spider-Man attempted to hold the Spirit of America together with just his raw strength, but was unable to do so. Arriving just in time, Iron Man fused the Spirit of America back together, leaving Spider-Man on the ship to deal with the FBI and United States Coast Guard.[1]
Capabilities[]
Spirit of America is a Staten Island Ferry that is able to transport both people and vehicles across the waters of New York City. The ship was not strong enough to withstand a blast from Chitauri technology, splitting in half when Vulture's weapon malfunctioned. The ship was strong enough to still float after being fused back together by Iron Man.[1]
Trivia[]
- Director Jon Watts admitted he made a mistake during the Staten Island Ferry scene saying "The only real flaw is that there are cars on the ferry, and there haven’t been cars allowed since the ’90s. So I’ll declare that in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they never had these rules."[2]
- The Spirit of America is a real ship in the Staten Island Ferry fleet.
