Biography[]
As Mikhail Fjodorov, Starodoub and Yuri Klementiev were able to obtain a missing bootleg Starktech from Hammer Industries, Natasha Romanoff was ordered to get undercover and approach Fjodorov in order to interrogate him. However, Fjodorov was murdered by Sofia who challenged Romanoff to compete her for the mantle of the "Black Widow", but only under the condition that she works alone and without S.H.I.E.L.D.'s support.
When Romanoff took herself off-line, Phil Coulson ordered Perez and Gerber to follow Starodoub's subordinates with the hope of finding Romanoff before Sofia did. However, Sofia discovered Perez and Gerber, killing them as she thought that Romanoff was still acting with S.H.I.E.L.D.'s support.[1]
