- "That was only a taste, Stark. When Stane and I have completed out revenge, this pain will seem the sweetest of mercies."
- ―M.O.D.O.K. to Iron Man[src]
Advanced Idea Mechanics, also known as A.I.M. was a weapons company run by Aldrich Killian.
History[]
Search for Immortality[]
Defeat[]
- "You're not the only one with plans for every outcome. Extremis was but one part of A.I.M... one path to immortality. You destroyed my body, but my consciousness had already been backed up."
- ―Aldrich Killian to Iron Man[src]
A.I.M. was a weapons manufacturer and rival of Stark Industries. Their leader, Aldrich Killian, was fascinated with trying to become immortal, with the key being Extremis. As a safety measure, Killian uploaded his consciousness to a computer. Eventually, Killian was killed by Iron Man and A.I.M. went into hiding.[1]
Out of the Darkness[]
- "Oh, y'know, typical Tuesday. Armed thugs trying to wreck Stark Industries, steal my latest tech..."
- ―Iron Man to Pepper Potts[src]
Many months later, Aldrich Killian had recovered his uploaded memory and evolved into a being known as M.O.D.O.K., hell bent on trying to get revenge on Iron Man. Therefore, M.O.D.O.K. teamed up with the likes of Ezekiel Stane, who also wanted Stark Industries to be his as he believed it was his right as the son of Obadiah Stane.
A.I.M. then attacked Stark Industries, sending Iron Man on a goose chase to take everyone down. A.I.M. used many weapons like the Hammer Drones, A.I.M. Drones, their own Extremis Soldiers and even F-22 Raptors. As Stark made his way through, A.I.M. kept sending their men like Crimson Dynamo and Living Laser. Eventually, M.O.D.O.K. attacked Stark, only to be defeated. This forced M.O.D.O.K. to evolve into a second version.[1]
Plan Foiled[]
- "Fool. You think this means anything? The process is complete. My consciousness is embedded in your network! There is no removing it!"
- ―M.O.D.O.K. to Iron Man[src]
As Iron Man kept plowing through troops, he also killed Crimson Dynamo, Living Laser, and Ezekiel Stane, leaving only the third version of M.O.D.O.K. Stark and M.O.D.O.K. fought which allowed the latter time to upload his consciousness to the Stark database as he explained he would attack the world using Stark Industries so that A.I.M. could rise in its place. However, Stark decided to shut down all Stark servers, killing M.O.D.O.K. and forcing him to start anew as Stark Resilient. Without their leader, A.I.M. became defunct.[1]
