Rom #18
Rom searches through the storm to find the hulking shape of Hybrid rising behind the young Sprite. As Rom approaches, Sprite turns and spots the horror, instinctively phasing through the Galadorian and disrupting his circuitry. Colossus grapples with Hybrid, who uses his abilities to revert Peter to his human form and begins asphyxiating him. Nightcrawler keeps Peter alive, while Wolverine once again confronts Rom. Sprite tells Wolverine about the TRUE enemy, Hybrid, as Rom once again grapples with his foe.
His Neutralizer is knocked towards Wolverine, who picks the weapon up, but he is severely jolted when he tries to fire it. Then, Sprite, in desperation, picks up the Neutralizer and due to her unique phasing ability, is able to fire it. Hybrid comes to destroy her, but Rom holds him back and instructs Sprite how to retune the weapon to its highest setting. She fires again, blasting apart Hybrid’s molecules but also opening the dimensional rift to Limbo, where Rom, bathed in his own weapon’s beam then falls through. With the destruction of Hybrid, the storm ceases, and the X-Men depart, leaving Rom’s Neutralizer lying in the snow.Appearing in "West Virginia REEL"

Rom #31
Elsewhere, a prison road crew works to clear snow in front of a transport carrying the deadly Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. A couple of prisoners fall before the oncoming vehicle, and Rom descends and stops the transport from crushing them. Believing Rom’s halting of their transport a possible attempt to free the prisoners, the panicked crew lifts off from the ground to get away. Rom is then confronted by the guards of the prison work crew. He asks what manner of man would chain his fellow humans and summons his Energy Analyzer, which they misinterpret as a weapon and open fire.
Seeing their bullets have no effect, the guards flee. The convicts lie to Rom telling him they have been enslaved, and he frees them before proceeding towards Windust Prison. The transport has landed at the prison mere moments before the Spaceknight’s arrival. Inside, a disguised Mystique and Rogue have released the remainder of their Brotherhood. As they burst forth, they encounter Rom, and in proclaiming themselves the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, Rom realizes his mistake and attempts to prevent their escape.
Pyro attacks him with his Living Fire, but Rom neutralizes him. He summons his Analyzer which reveals them as mutants. Rogue then attacks him, while Avalanche attempts to use his powers but his shattered arms are not able to take the strain. Pyro, Avalanche and Blob are all down. Mystique then orders Rogue to carry herself and Destiny away. The warden emerges with his guards and the misunderstandings are soon straightened out. Rom goes forth to attempt to recapture the departed ‘Sisterhood.’ The fleeing mutants seek shelter from the cold and land at a mansion, where they encounter Hybrid.Appearing in "Choosing Sides"

Synopsis for "Choosing Sides"
Rom #32
Rom returns to the home of Brock Jones, a.k.a. the Torpedo, and hears of his battle with Hybrid. Mack Killburn arrives and wants to enlist in the cause against Wraithkind. Rom goes forth to once again face the horror called Hybrid. Meanwhile, the convicts he mistakenly freed stumble across the mansion where the mutants are hiding. Hybrid mentally suspends them in air and twirls them till they are dead, stripping them down to skeletons. It is then that Rom arrives and finds what appears to be a battered and helpless Mystique. Rom goes to aid her and they then unleash their trap.
Rogue attempts to absorb Rom’s power but is astonished that he has no power, only a kind decency she has never known before. Hybrid then reveals himself and attacks. As he focuses on the Spaceknight, Destiny is able to penetrate his mental blocks and see his true plan: to force mutant females to become breeding stock for a new race of Hybrids.
Rogue takes off to aid Rom and finds him grappling with the monster. She attacks Hybrid and offers to partner with Rom against him. Hybrid grabs her by the head, which causes her to begin to absorb his abilities. She is able to use these against him to knock him away as she is wracked with nausea from his touch. Rom comforts her and, once again, turns to fight Hybrid, who assumes first Rom’s human form, then Brandy’s to deceive the Spaceknight. However, Mystique also assumes Brandy’s form, breaking the illusion. Rom summons his Neutralizer, and Hybrid seeks to once again take control of his armor and turn his weapon on himself. It is then that Destiny tells Rogue she must once again absorb a portion of Hybrid’s power so that Rom may prevail. Rogue does so, and Rom blasts him once again with the Neutralizer.
