and after 6128826361 years of waiting…is finally here



its pretty obvious devilman crybaby completely changed my warpped…but is ok since im in the 0.1% of kensuke ushio listeners :D!!! im happy with it, i jst wish ive had listened to more music (at least on spotify, since i use yt for music a lot, and spotify doesnt have the night versions of the dmcb ost;-;, which are absolute bangers). well, at least i dont have any pov: indie here…for some reason spotify cant recognize thats only from 2022.

also manga, shonen, fugiter aero, anime and runaway arent music genres 😭, jst put jpop man ;-;

i think they took the concept of “making cool music to tell cool stories” TO THE NEXT FUCKING LEVEL. i mean, everyone nowadays makes skits of their ocs with songs they like right. it can either be to follow trends or just because the song fitted them (the levels can depend, but is usually superficial), so bakui (which is also another alias they go by) decided to compose their own cool songs and make their own lore. while this may seem like a pretentious take on the subject (music has always been a way to tell stories after all), the reason im saying this is bc of the nature of the songs and the videos: sakanaousakana’s music doesnt have lyrics, and they work with an electronic/synth sound (in fact their most recent song, scares, sounds a lot like a phonk one). it could perfectly work as stand alone music, but their main purpose is to serve bakui’s lore, which is a recurring topic on most of their mv’s. is almost like a collaborative piece, but again, both the music and the mv’s could work as standalone pieces, kinda similar to the lore of the skits and their music. they just beautifully complement eachother, mostly into conveying the atmosphere. maybe a more appropriate term would be that bakui is composing the ost of their own lore? idk, since every video is a standalone piece when we get revealed more stuff about the story, not a series on itself. idk what i just said hehehe sorry ;-;

BUT SINCE WE’RE ALREADY ON TALKING BOUT THE MV’S. sakanaousakana is a talented animator, but i mean, extremely talented. most of her characters have a unique aesthetic, mixing religious roles with some cool supernatural touches and sometimes, tragedy. it can be intense, yet is hyptonic and absolute eye candy. maybe the reason their music doesnt have lyrics is bc they need to save time to make those animations…makes sense heheh. i havent watched most of them yet, but id like to understand their lore heheh.
