Ranuin was an Ainu, in earlier versions of the legendarium.
History[]
Ranuin was the Ainu who represented the month. He was the son of Aluin, the eldest of the Ainur, who represented the time itself, and his siblings were Fanuin, who represented the year, and Danuin, who represented the day.[1] After arriving in Valinor, Ranuin's elder brother, Fanuin, spoke for them, saying that they came to offer their services to the Valar. After a pause of twenty-eight nights, Ranuin came to Manwë and said, 'Behold my handiwork!', but in his hands there was no visible thing. Taking his invisible handicraft and attached it to Silpion, making it so no mortal could touch it.[1]
