The great boar was a particular boar that dwelt in Everholt, a section of the Firien Wood near Halifirien at the feet of the White Mountains.
History[]
In the twenty-ninth century of the Third Age, the beast was hunted for a long time by Folca, thirteenth King of Rohan. Everholt was the Rohirrim's name for a section of the Firien Wood. Upon a time, Froca finally slew the boar, but perished himself in the deed.[1]
In adaptations[]
In The Lord of the Rings Online, a flashback sequence shows King Folca's hunt and his killing of the great boar of Everholt. A tapestry depicting it is found in Meduseld. A group of White Mountains Orcs opposed to Rohan witnessed the event and, impressed by the creature that slew their greatest foe, styled themselves after the boar, incorporating boar-tusks and bones into their armor.
