I love watching this with an audience who has not seen it before; hearing their laughs and sniffles heightens the experience and I will miss it when this is out of theaters. And I love that I can recommend this to almost anybody (which I certainly cannot say for most of my favorite films).
I bumped down my rating a teensy bit not necessarily because I enjoy it less—if anything, my appreciation has only grown—but rather I've just come to realize that most of my personal favorite films have more complicated emotive layers than just pathos.
Nevertheless, I love La La Land and I will never, ever get over that ending.
