Going into this I didn’t expect to like it but I was prepared to be surprised, I wasn’t. Many people say that this is the greatest action film of all time but pretty much the whole runtime I was bored.
I didn’t care about the characters and what was happening to them at all. It’s definitely a me problem for not liking the genre and kind of movie it is, but I thought that they were just weird. For example I just wasn’t entertained by a guy strapped to the front of a vehicle playing an electric guitar.
The plot was alright but like I mentioned before I was bored for pretty much the whole film. I wasn’t on the edge of my seat or anything I was just sort of watching. The pacing was also bad and I could really feel the runtime.
I’ve done nothing but say bad things about Mad Max: Fury Road so I’ll move on to the positives. The cinematography was outstanding. The setting being a barren wasteland definitely helped get some incredible shots, for example in the first chase scene of the film when they drive into the sand storm, it’s one of the best looking shots I’ve ever seen. The other positive was The Citadel, I thought that visually it looked awesome and the scenes in it were great. I would have loved to see more of that and less of the long chases.
I completely understand why people like this film but it just wasn’t for me, however I’m sure I’ll rewatch it at some point and hopefully enjoy it.
