Rewatched it but this time in IMAX, and while watching a movie in imax itself is a great immersive experience, the majority of the movie being in 2.40 kind of made me regret paying double the price of a regular ticket. And the aspect ratio changes within the scene itself, was very jarring and I found myself checking what ratio the shot is in more than being immersed in the story of it all, maybe it’s cause I’m rewatching. But otherwise, what a film. Definitely rewards a second watch and so many of the details got ironed out for me. Loved emily blunt and Florence Pugh more this time around. And Alden Ehrenreich, even with Downey giving one of his best acts, most of the scenes I could only look at him. Definitely near the top of my list. Rami Malek’s scene in the trial was great too. And this watch solidified for me how the film portrays Oppenheimer going ahead with the bomb knowing the consequences. He is not a hero, nor is he showed as one. He is shown as a coward who cannot pick a side when it mattered the most. But also the film puts you in the room with him, and the editing and dialogues. Editing truly is amazing in this film, multiple timelines perspectives and the sequencing it’s all intended and each shot builds upon the previous one. Dialogues, very sharp and might be Nolan’s best. Overall a great rewatch, mainly because of the film itself and not because of the format. Also loved seeing the jawan trailer on the imax screen, cannot wait.
