Oppenheimer is a story of various chain reactions - conversations that inspire delayed action, betrayals that sway decisions, ripples in the water. In that sense, what's already being segmented by some as bomb/courtroom halves of the film connect. It's a rich text.
It's also one of the technically impressive films of the decade so far. The editing, use of score, cinematography, sound design - in many ways, the way its elements are assembled marks Nolan's greatest achievements to date.
And yet with all its robust imagery, its most powerful may be Cillian's eyes, conveying so much turmoil, fear, brilliance, and concern in the same shot.
