It's A Wonderful Life is right up on the borderline of being too cheesy, but it isn't at all. It also approaches the threshold of overly religious, ridiculousness, slapsticky, and cloying, but again, is none of these things. That it comes out on the right side on all these things is majorly impressive and effective, and, thus, timeless.
I still would have liked George to end up on an adventure, heading to South America with his wife, though.
