Very much in the same fashion and vein as his other films - filled with crazy glitz and glam of the song..dance.. performances..parties, has a crazy protagonist at a creative and life low. For most of the duration i couldn't understand what to make of this.. basically a Fellini film.

What really made me like it is the ending - Tobby's head being decapitated and his head becoming the devil's ball, that really worked for me. The part where he…

One of those gold standard horror films - "night of the living dead" is filled to the brim with great atmosphere, the setting is the simplest of the three "dead" films, yet somehow the most effective - a house, with doors and windows, which can easily be broken into by the "ghouls" - the stunning black and white photography and the setting provides great atmosphere, coupled with the constant news reportings which give us context about the zombie outbreak and…

    Excellent.

A very whimsical film, it takes a bell as a metaphor for control, and rolls with it. It applies the Anton Chekov theory of an object, which we see on screen earlier, has to come to use at some point and applies it so well. We see two bells, one near the bathroom for the employees, and another at the boss' desk, both are meant for controlling the workers by the unempathetic bosses and corporates.

    The workers can't even…

Absolutely fantastic, probably Imtiaz Ali's career best.

I was sold off on the film immediately - with the shocking choice of placing the assassination scene in the beginning, then the "Baja" song being used as opening credits. I was fucking sold. That's what I love about cinema. Ali can place the fuck out of songs in films.

Diljit Dosanjh is genuinely ernest as Chamkila. Ali captures, in the screenplay, Chamkila as a very three dimensional character - while he is…
