In this month of March marked by the municipal elections, LaCinetek invites you to set off on a journey through around ten mid-sized French cities. From Narbonne to Nice, from Lille to Brest, each of the 10 films in our selection is rooted in its own territory, its urban landscape as well as its imagination, while also capturing, through subtle touches, a certain history of the evolution of French society.
For this selection, the team at the Luxembourg City Film Festival chose to highlight works that reflect the many remarkable encounters made over the past 15 years. Whether filmmakers (Volker Schlöndorff, Margarethe von Trotta, Michel Gondry, Hélène Cattet and Bruno Forzani…), actors (Sandrine Bonnaire), screenwriters (Paul Laverty), or exhibitions created for the event (David Lynch…), the Luxembourg City Film Festival invites you to a true “family portrait.” Its 16th edition will take place from March 5 to 15, 2026, in…

Gilles Lellouche is the filmmaker of the month on LaCinetek!
French actor and director born on July 5, 1972, in Savigny-sur-Orge.
After training at the Cours Florent drama school, Gilles Lellouche directed short films and numerous music videos, notably for NTM and MC Solaar. He made his first appearances in cinema in small roles during the 1990s, before gaining increasingly significant parts thanks to films by Guillaume Canet and Yann Samuell. This was followed by a prolific acting career across a wide range of genres, working with filmmakers such as Rémi Bezançon, Claude Miller, Cédric Jimenez, Jeanne Herry, and Quentin Dupieux.
In 2004, he co-directed his first feature film, Narco, with Tristan Aurouet, then returned to directing solo 15 years later, first with Sink or Swim (Le Grand Bain, 2018), an ensemble comedy with a star-studded cast, and then with Beating Hearts (L’Amour ouf, 2024), a romantic musical drama for which Alain Chabat won the César Award for Best Supporting Actor. Both films were presented at Cannes and achieved great public success.
