The Nice Guys is a wonderful example of comedic filmmaking because it understands the importance of timing. The way scenes are blocked, shot, and edited are all framed and timed to heighten the comedy of the hilarious script. The cast (especially Ryan Gosling and Angourie Rice) all find the funniest delivery for each of their lines while crafting and maintaining awesome and memorable characters. Everyone works wonderfully off of each other, and the story maintains a steady pace that never stops being engaging. If effectively satirizes the genres it inhabits while also being an excellent example of them. I wish this film got more attention, because it was a hilarious and pleasant surprise.
